$7,000 in under 16 months selling ideas.

The problem if this post is that you didn't make the money because of the ideas, you did of money because you were able to sell a book about ideas a.k.a execution. So yeah, ideas are still worthless.

Agreed in part, however I find it ironic that people are paying David for something that others (you included) have said is worthless. Regardless of the execution apparently some people have found value in the ideas.

Maybe David should try selling snow to eskimos next 😀

Honestly, I don't find it that strange for two reasons.

        1. People purchasing decisions are not rational. Homeopathy is a $ 15 billion dollar marketing in the US alone and is scientifically proven to be ineffective. Just the most striking example that came to my mind.

        2. I am buying something that is worthless by itself, but I can make it worthy. The same goes for every nonfiction book if I read it but don't apply the knowledge, I wasted my time and money. If I execute on the ideas that David gives in his become, I made them worthy. If I just read the book and do nothing, they stay worthless. I still wouldn't pay for it, but I understand why some people would. In a more abstract way, we can say that he's selling the hope of building a business.

I didn't want to attack and I apologize if it sounded like that.

By the way, some people made a business out of selling snow :D (not to Eskimos)

I don't feel attacked at all, I really appreciate your insights 😀 @Luqa

Without ideas, there would be no book.

      No book = no sales.

      Ideas created the book...

      Ideas = sales

      1. 2

the process of creation is by itself a form of execution. The process of selling is the second form of execution. So what made him money was execution, not the ideas.

When people say that ideas are worthless, they mean that without doing you make zero money, no matter how good your idea is.

He could've had the same exact idea (sell a book about ideas) but without executing on that (writing the book and selling it) he would've made 0 money.

        Execution made him money.

    Great stuff David - congrats!

Would be interested to hear more about the journey along the way, especially re marketing the book. But also how you figured out what to write about and publishing. Do you have a blog or anything?

    1. 1

Cheers Josh. No blog right now BUT I will be creating one soon enough.

Good inspiration to all "idea" guys out there. There is more than one way to make a product out of your ideas.
It can be books like these. Or a course on generating ideas etc.
    Congrats BTW.
