My process for building an MVP in 14 days

After the preparing and reviewing the idea, I started thinking how I can prepare a MVP quickly to serve it to possible users/communities.

Here is what I did?

  1. Creating new Github repository & Slack app

  2. Using PaaS to boost launh (Heroku & Render)

  3. Adding tailwind & daisyui for Landing page

  4. Creating new Github repository & Slack app:

  • I first created github repository under an organization that I created called zen-bots. I really wanted to think the future especially in the earliest stages of building something. That's why I created Zen-Bots organization to develop my other slack app ideas underneath it

Organization repository -> https://github.com/zen-bots
Project repository -> https://github.com/zen-bots/activity-tracker-slack-bot

  • Second step was creating the Slack App under my personal account to add slash commands and define the introductions of the app.
  1. Using PaaS to boost launh (Heroku & Render):

I always love to use Platforms as a service to boost by launch process with some free domains and resources ( hosting space, databases, emails, marketing etc. )

That's why, I started to use Heroku as I've always done. Things are changed and heroku decided to remove free plan for PostgreSql database at the end of November. This pushed me to find another free tool and I stumbled upon with Render. It also has great services & tools for me to build and ship my ideas faster.

  1. Adding tailwind & daisyui for Landing page:

Building something new means that you need to learn every day from others' experiences. I read lots of articles on Indie Hacker, Hackernew, Twitter to see what everyone is doing to launch their ideas quickly.

It's always come up to generate landing page with and email box or contact form that lets users contact with you.

That's why I created my landing page with tailwindcss and daisyUI that has a lot of components that I can use free

  1. Bonus-Next steps :

My next step will absolutely be marketing and telling what my product is doing in order to get some feedback from users and validate the idea. After that, I can start updating the UI of the slack app to make it more interactable.

Feel free to share you ideas/feedbacks on it.

Thanks for reading!
