Airapy
A mental healthcare startup
Alfie and I have been working for 5 months on this new platform. It's HIPAA compliant and beautiful! After 2 weeks we have 12 live therapists with about 10 more in progress. We created a custom videochat because of the pandemic. We are soliciting feedback from early testers and continually tweaking it.
I borrowed an SLR camera from Temple and practiced taking headshots. After doing a few I scheduled a meetup with 2/4 of our therapists and took headshots of them. They were really happy with them!
This is a new service we will be providing to help onboard new therapists.

We were admitted into the fall clinic at Penn! The students will be doing a bunch of important legal work for us but primarily they will be drafting patients consent forms and HIPAA privacy practice forms that we can hand off to new customers.
This is a real service feature that will help us onboard new & more therapists! Should be available to us soon.

We attached a Setmore calendar account to the website so the therapists can manage their own calendars. Previously I was doing it through the "event calendar" feature on Squarespace and it was inefficient and time-consuming, and I was handling the booking via text-messaging. Now patients can book directly online without going through me. Yay! This saves me a lot of time and is better for the patients.
Although I'm not sure we have gotten any new patients since this milestone so I don't think anyone has used it yet!

Airapy was given $8,500 in seed funding from the Lori Bush Seed Fund through the Fox School of Business at Temple University for operational and research costs to keep pursuing and refining the business model.
There is a temptation to blow all the money on a kick-ass website but I will restrain myself.

It took a few months to get the legal contracts in place and wait for the therapists to get the appropriate insurance and consent forms. We launched with our first 2 customers (found through LinkedIn). Since then we have added two more to the site.
We got a nice write-up in Technically Philly the day we launched and the response was overwhelmingly positive. We got instant appointments.
Airapy makes $2 a month in revenue.

I tried to find a new therapist and was stymied by the outdated booking systems and lack of transparency. I was determined to build something better and came up with this process innovation that eliminates office space.
