I work for a larger company, as an iOS dev, working on large subscription apps. We have millions of customers, but just last week I launched my own personal side project, Amounts, a manual expense tracking app for iPhone. And in a few hours my first trial customer will hopefully turn over to paid, and it feels great. There is just something different about people buying something you specifically designed, built, and shipped versus an army of people and an endless marketing budget.
I don't think the app is going to let me quit my day job any time soon, but I'm hoping it will increase my motivation for future side endeavors.
