What is an H1B visa?

Before I became an agency technical recruiter I really wasn't aware about tech worker visa types or how important they are to the industry as a whole. The FAANG companies (and thousands of others) work very hard to sponsor tens of thousands of tech workers via the H1B visa program each year. The process can be very complicated. In addition to tech companies directly sponsoring people to come work in the USA there are major publicly traded companies like Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services and Cognizant that sponsor people via the H1B visa program. Through this arrangement there are a series of middlemen that profit from tech workers that come here because of the structure of our immigration law.
