Almost a decade ago I worked on a project using data from the Global Forecast System (GFS) for a Twitter bot and a web app, the project didn't get much traction but I learned a lot about weather forecast models.
More recently, I started exploring what I could do to help make cloud computing more sustainable. One interesting area is carbon aware software using data from the electricity grid and weather forecasts. I'm a big fan of Electricity Maps and Windy but their APIs are a bit costly for commercial use so I cannot really build prototypes on top of them. Instead I decided to see if I could build a simple environmental platform for green computing. Geonde was born.
