Your app to find bulk shops and live zero waste
WoW!!! We knew single use plastic is one of the main hot topics in press nowadays, specially in the summer when people go to the beach and see it filled with plastic but we didn't expect press to pick on us so quickly, the only problem is that for now our app only contains shops in Barcelona area.
We also won a prize worth of 5.000€ that we will be using to hire a tech consultancy to speed up the development of new features. Version 1.2 the shops will be automatically added through the API
The app has now more than 3000 downloads, 800 active users.
Thanks to doing a soft launch we detected some UX problems in the app as well as we are launching on iOS. We have already more than 1000 downloads on the android playstore. As the summer is here and Spain stops during july we will let the app grow organically during these summer months. We created a new feature for people to suggest us shops, it goes to a typeform where people fill in the information of the shops. We hope to have more than 500 shops by september
For the last month we have been trying a business model for our app, offering a delivery service for our users of the groceries they will be able to buy on the bulk shops available on our app. To test this, before building a whole marketplace we wanted to experience how was it to deliver groceries on reusable containers and if the business model exists.

4 months after starting the development of the app we are launching our first version of the app. We gathered more than 50 people on a very hot saturday in Barcelona. We are launching with the main core functionalities of the app: you can locate and search for local bulk stores as well as you can create challenges and commit to a plastic free life thanks to our app. We are launching on iOS in two weeks and we are launching with more than 150 shops added, mainly in Barcelona. We already have 3-4 press mentions ready.
We gathered an awesome team of 7 people, we have a 5+ year experienced Java developer, a 4+ year experienced frontend developer and a 5+ year experience UX designer. They will be the backbone of our development. They want to use top noch technologies for the development. Java on the backend on google cloud store and flutter framework for the mobile dev. Marti, Magda and I will do the hard work of getting all the data from the shops, spreading the word out and creating a community. We already had more than 5 press mentions, only with the crowdfunding campaign

Thanks to more than 180 donors and a single main sponsor, we reached our target of gettting 10.000€. Now the problem is that the 3 cofounders don't know shit about programming, I did a bit of python and C at uni, later learned to tweak some wordpress pages with HTML and CSS however, I don't know shit about building an app. Marti has a friend who is a mobile dev, we are looking for more tech experts as well as a top noch UX designer
On November 2018 Marti and Magda shared the idea of an app that helps you find bulk shops. 3 weeks later the crowdfunding campaign was ready and we launched it. The initial idea was to create an app that would become a marketplace for bulk shops with a delivery service. However, we knew achieving this would cost a lot of money. Our initial goal was to get 10.000€ and develop a first beta version of the app so people could find it.
