Idea:
I'm a former registered nurse who learned how to code and became a software engineer. A lot of nurses are burnt out right now and want to quit the profession. I will sell a book/course to teach them how to do it.
Validation:
This idea comes semi "pre-validated". I've been getting a bunch of DMs on Reddit over the years from nurses looking for guidance on how to make the career change to software engineer. All have said they would buy a book/course if I were to write it.
Actions I took:
- Posted and engaged in nursing threads wherever my story made sense
- Had 13 conversations on Reddit in 12 hours
- Tried to move the convos to SMS or over the phone as much as possible to make it more personable
- Convinced 1 person to preorder my course, which I haven't made yet for $249! I literally added the 2 last second because why not and he still saw enough value to make the purchase
- Made a gumroad product in under 2 mins, stole a book cover from another creator because I didn't have time to make one as this guy was ready to pay right then and there. Don't worry I put it back and made my own afterwards
What's next:
- I need more preorders. Full stop. Going to double down on Reddit by continuing to tactfully contributing to the /r/nurse and /r/nursing subreddits.
- Going to sign up for nursing forums and do the same. Big one seems to be www.allnurses.com
- Need to figure out where else do nurses hang out
- I need to build a real landing page and gumroad product page
