I created Multy 4 years ago and started to talk about it here, on IndieHacker. 4 years after that, I reworked the website with a new design and a new stack!

The stack was pretty simple before, Next.JS for the frontend and Supabase for the backend. I loved working with Supabase, and still do! But now, after 6 months of bootcamp training, I love writing SQL and having control over my entire stack.

So last month I prepared a migration (quite complex with my knowledge, I must admit) from a Supabase environment to a simple Postgresql database on a VPS with Coolify as PaaS.

I took the opportunity to completely change the architecture of the DB, using functions instead of queries and reorganising the tables (I had 0 knowledge of SQL 4 years ago, it was a mess).

It took 1 month of work to prepare the new architecture and migration.

The frontend was also completely overhauled as I brought in a UI designer and started from scratch using SvelteKit instead of Next.JS. I really liked Next and React at the start of my apprenticeship, but Svelte is so much easier to use in my opinion that I've never looked back.

This is the first step in the evolution of Multy. I've started this restructuring because with over 2,000 subscribers, 24,000 lists created and about twenty clients, I know the site has the potential to be profitable, but now I need to grow it, get it out there and do some marketing (which is terrifying as a developer).

My goal ? Road to 2k MMR !

32$/mo, I didn't think it would be possible when I created the site, but with these few clients I now know that I just need to work on marketing (instead of adding more features).
I have a feeling that Multy could support a small salary without too much maintenance effort, let's do it!

I hadn't worked much on Multy lately, busy on another project!

But I've been wanting to tweak some things for a while, design, features, and price!

It's done and I now have new ideas for features for the next months (customizable personal pages design for example).

After less than a week, I am almost at 10€/MRR!

I'll be able to afford 2 starbucks each month, and that's incredible 😁

Multy is going great on the free part, not so much with the paid plan. And that's ok!

I never really worked on the paid part of the site. I'm not even sure that the features offered for a fee are relevant. But seeing the site grow without any marketing is a small pride! The way it works is that people hear about it just because of the lists created. This allows to have new users regularly.

I don't think I'll ever take Multy to the top, but this was my first small success and it taught me a lot!

It's been 3 months since I launched Multy. And last week, I got my first customer!
It's not much, a one year subscription at 3€ per month, but it's extremely pleasing and confirms me in the idea that Multy could be viable.

Well, one customer is not 1000. My main problem today is to reach out to people who might need it, and that's not the easy part!
I'm going to focus a little bit more on the marketing and growth hacking aspect.

And it's scary! Until now, working on a website for free was easy.

I didn't owe anything to anyone. But today, it's different!
By adding a subscription system to Multy, I am committing myself to the duration and quality of what I provide. It's a very interesting change but also very stressful!

Did you also feel this way when you launched your first paid SaaS? The feeling that it was getting "real".

I haven't updated the site for a month now, and I have missed it!

I've been working on a cool little feature for a while now. Users can now create a personal page that will contain all their lists and social accounts. Kind of like Linktree!

Users can also change the name of the url to make it more personal.

In the future, I would like to allow users to customize their page (background, images etc).

I took the opportunity to redesign the landing page a bit.

It took longer than I expected, but I finally integrated an authentication system into Multy.me!

The idea remains the same, you can anonymously create lists of sites, but if you want to update your lists, you can create a free account.

For the moment the system is in beta, and I hope to integrate a payment system to add a "premium" status. I'm still thinking about features for paying members, the most obvious one for now is the possibility to create custom URLs for your lists.
I also want to create personalized pages per user, a bit like linktree.

Creating list of URL that you can easily share was the goal of Multy. And one answer I had on my Hacker News topic was "What about a browser extension?"

I didn't thought about it, mainly because I had no idea how to do that. But after a quick research, it's not that hard!
I found an article on Google on how to make a browser extension with Vue. I never used it but it's really fun !

I'm working on it and hope to have something at the end of this week :)
