Surprised $450 bill from Auth0

We have on average 150-300 new users per day on our app. We use the service of Auth0 (www.auth0.com) to register our users on our app. One day we saw a charge of $450 on our credit card. $450 Wow! 🤯

How could this happen????

We always thought that we only pay for active users per month. That is, only for users who log in to our app many times in a month. Unfortunately Auth0 counts from the moment the user registers even if he doesn't use our app after that. Due to the high demand in August we have received this bill of $450 from Auth0. Unbelievable!

Even after we contacted Auth0 and told them that we are a startup and don't have this money, they insisted on the money from us. We paid the bill of course and distanced ourselves from them. So we developed our own solution to register our users to our app. It took us two weeks of work and testing and customers were not satisfied with this change.

In the end we paid the bill and made the customers happy again. What a journey.
