Obra
Project cost and income tracking for independent contractors
Obra is open to everyone today, in English and Spanish. Here is what ships on day one:
Receipts from the job site. Photograph a receipt, forward an invoice to your organization's private email address, or send photos and PDFs to Obra's WhatsApp number. Each one arrives scanned as a draft in the Receipts inbox, waiting for a person to confirm it.
A ledger per project. Income and expenses with attachments, contract value, change orders that keep the original value visible, budgets, a forecast of the job's final cost that never dips below what you have already recorded, and a financial close when the last receipt is in.
Team expenses with review. Crew members submit expenses from their own phone without seeing the project's finances; reviewers approve them into the ledger.
Public project pages. Publish a page per project with photos, milestones and updates to share with clients — never the numbers.
Your data, always. CSV exports of anything, or the whole organization as a ZIP.
Free forever for one project, and Pro at $12 per user per month with a 14-day trial, no credit card.
Obra installs from the browser on iPhone and Android, no app store needed.
About
Most contractors and small teams learn what a job earned months after it ended, making some jobs profitless. I suffered from it when running a small construction business, I wish I had a tool like Obra back then.
