Free paper trading app for practicing stocks & crypto

September 8, 2026 I built Paperstack — a free paper trading simulator for stocks & crypto

Hey Indie Hackers 👋

I just shipped Paperstack (https://paperstack.eu) — a free web app to practice stock and crypto trading with virtual cash.

### Why it exists

I wanted to practice trading without risking real money, and without fighting a bloated broker demo. Most paper tools are either too basic (just buy/sell) or buried inside huge platforms.

Paperstack focuses on a simple practice workflow:

ranked setups → optional backtest → paper buy → track P&L / win rate.

### What’s in v1

- Start with 10,000 EUR or USD in paper cash

- Ranked setups for Day Pulse, Short Swing, and Long Term

- Strategy Lab backtests before opening a position

- Personal virtual portfolio (open/closed trades, equity, win rate)

- Invite rewards (extra paper cash only)

- Free to use — no brokerage account needed

### What I’m looking for

Honest feedback from builders / traders:

1. Is the first-run experience clear enough for a new user?

2. Does the Day Pulse / Short Swing / Long Term split make sense?

3. What would make you come back weekly?

4. Would you ever pay for Pro (more setups / watchlist / advanced), or should this stay free?

Built solo. Happy to share what worked (and what didn’t) on SEO + launch if useful.

The ranked setups seem like the real differentiator. Are users actually returning to follow and paper-trade them over time, or is Paperstack mainly being used as a one-off trading simulator?
