Ideation

Apple is know of having great quality products (maybe back in Steve Jobs days...) and very pricey. The alternative is to save up to 40% off the original price by buying refurbished: They have the best quality standards for refurbished in the industry while they do not advertise much about it (hidden on the footer on their website). I heard about it from a French Apple news website back at the age of 15 - and decided to get my next Macbook Pro, refurbished (using savings I got working on some side-gigs).

The thing is that the refurb inventory is unpredictable and random – so literally I had to refresh Apple's website over and over until 2AM to finally find the right product...

I was thinking: there must be better way!

I hacked a little widget (the tiny apps on Dashboard) that tracks all availabilities and alerts you as soon an offer became available. A first article was published on Engadget in September 2007: https://www.engadget.com/2007/09/27/widget-watch-refurb-store/
