How would you reach users interested in remote work solutions?

We're currently brainstorming new acquisition channels.

We need to get traffic going. Once that's done, we can start improving the other parts of the funnel.

We're a simple way to run remote retros. Our product is extremely simple to use, and that's the feature our users most like.

How would you aprooach acquisition?

Have you tried direct sales? You are a B2B, maybe try doing a cold outreach to 100 remote companies to get a few users to test it out.

In the works. How you would go about doing this?

      1. 1

Would go on Remoteok and find the list of any company that was hiring remotely in the last 6 months (a good chance they are still operating)

Then would extract the contacts for that company by going to Linkedin and finding lead positions in the tech team (one thing to aim for are people that don't seem like Linkedin influencers, so it's easier to approach them)

Then would craft a message but not push the product directly to them. I would ask something in the lines of: you saw that they work in a remote team, you are trying to help remote teams get more productive and would love to know how they are approaching their retros (if they have them) - maybe jump on a call.

After you get that input, you would probably have more details on in which way you can sell it to them.

A very scrappy approach tbh - but could maybe work

    A few ideas:

    • If you're looking for new business customers LinkedIn is a great option for B2B. Try posting content around remote work and build connections with businesses.
    • You could try writing SEO optimized blog posts on remote developer productivity topic, it has a potential to attract many HR/PM/EMs.
    • You should also have a presence on socials to build trust and the brand.

As an 10+ year digital nomad, I ask gpt-4. Having worked remote for 20+ years and these days only need to go onsite during a discovery phase of a gig.

    • Remote workers in my experience are very clear on their needs and how to discover items for themselves. Have you taken the time to deeply understand your prospects? Is the founder team, themselves long time remote workers?
    • Remote workers tend to have strong aversion to clickbait or any other marketing nonsense. Why do you seek traffic versus sales?
    • Many remote workers are IH-ers

    GPT-4 Prompt:
Please list 10 tools to better handle end of project reviews, continuous learning, for a distributed team?

    Reply:
Failed to mention your app. Did list many open-source tools. Plus listed tools that are strong in distributed team management and distributed project management.

In my discovery tests, if I find chatgpt has not been able to give me good solid open source, or savvy solutions, then I use youtube. However WOM always wins. If I bother to direct hit the website and I see nonsense, it gets no more look. Anything related to product hunt, I immediately know that the product needed/choose to use a low trust platform to generate traffic. It is a heavily gamed platform.

For example, Loomio (https://www.loomio.com) has a very strong following of remote workers. If your tool works well with Loomio or you got Loomio team to roast your tool, you would get visibility and possible traction. Loomio was created as it filled a distinct niche in remote workers. I sense your trying to do the same but have failed to provide solid evidence. You could adopt the same approach for any of the highly valued remote worker tools.
