by Amer Karamustafić27 days ago I decided to post resumebuilder.dev on hacker news. The post was a complete failure, zero comments and points, it didn't even managed to leave shownew.
To be honest I was a bit surprised by this, in my mind the product seemed like something that hackers news community would love. It is privacy-friendly, free and open-source after all, but I guess that wasn't the case. I am not sure why it didn't receive the attention I expected, perhaps the landing page is poor or the title was uninteresting. In any case I will be continuing the development because the feeling when my friends let me know they managed to get a job with my resume builder never gets old.

It happens with most of us. I was lucky that my side hustle Kody Tools ended up with 79 comments and 151 upvotes. On the other hand, I got only 6 upvotes at Product Hunt. No need to be disappointed as long as you have faith in your product.

Nice, congrats on the launch of Kody Tools. You're right, it would be nice to have a product go viral but success can come slowly as well.

Took a look at your product and have a few thoughts if you are open to them.
- You mention on your landing page how your resume builder benefits ATS screening but does not say how you do that. This is a big statement and there are products out there that focus on this (jobscan) so how is yours better?
- To create a resume takes a lot of effort on the site, obviously a LinkedIn login will help in the future but I would have at least expected to be able to upload my resume and have it auto-populate the form.
- If your friends found success using it, I would have liked to know how that materialized such as how many applications did they make, how many resulted in an interview are you able to compare before and after they used your tool. (The success of a tool that attempts to bypass ATS screening is best measured through either those that had their resume viewed by human eyes or those that resulted in an interview.
