Sajutong

I’m an indie Android developer from Korea, and I recently built Sajutong, a mobile app based on Korean Saju, also known as the Four Pillars of Destiny.

I chose this idea because Saju has a strong cultural identity, but traditional readings can feel complex and difficult to understand, especially for people who are unfamiliar with the terminology.

I wanted to make that experience simpler and more visual.

Instead of presenting users with long technical explanations, Sajutong focuses on information people can quickly understand and revisit every day.

The app currently includes:

- Daily fortune readings

- Love, wealth, health, and overall fortune

- Four Pillars and Five Elements analysis

- Yin-Yang balance

- Daily Tarot

- Compatibility with friends, partners, and family

- Lucky colors, numbers, directions, and items

- Fortune history and trend tracking

One of the biggest challenges was deciding how much traditional terminology to keep.

If I simplified everything too much, the product would lose what makes Korean Saju unique. But if I kept too much traditional language, new users could easily feel overwhelmed.

So I’ve been trying to find a middle ground: preserve the identity of Saju while making the experience feel like a modern consumer app.

I’m building Sajutong as a solo founder and handling the product, Android development, UX, localization, launch, and early marketing myself.

I’m especially interested in learning whether users outside Korea can understand the concept naturally.

I’d love feedback on:

- Does “Korean Saju” make sense if you’ve never heard of it before?

- Which features sound the most interesting?

- Does combining Saju and Tarot feel natural?

- What would make you come back to an app like this daily?
