Acquired first major batch of early users

I was reading Hacker News one day when I came across an Ask HN thread titled, "What interesting problems are you working on?" I'm not usually one to comment on HN but for whatever reason I decided to do so that day.

I started off by saying, "I'm tackling the issue of managing Reddit saves." I proceeded to delve into the details of my side project, Unearth, and then nervously submitted the comment. Soon thereafter and to my utter surprise, not only was I getting positive responses, but people were signing up as well.

I consider it a major win for myself and wrote about the experience more in depth on my blog. Before the Ask HN comment, I only had like 6 users. Since then (keep in mind the Ask HN comment was the only active marketing I've done), I'm currently at:

  • 66 users signed up
  • 16,000+ Reddit saves queued for surfacing
  • 2,300+ Reddit saves surfaced and delivered
  • 600+ emails sent
