Writing about vibe coding, AI app builders, and what it's actually like marketing one from the inside

  1. We built another AI app builder. Here's where it's actually different (and where it isn't)There are now enough AI app builders that "we built one too" is almost an eye-roll on its own. Cursor, Bolt, Lovable, Replit Agent, Emergent - the space is crowded, and most of the pitches sound identical: describe your idea, get a working app, ship it today. We're one of the teams in that crowd. We build Greta.sh. So instead of writing the usual launch post, I want to talk about the actual tradeoff we're making, because I think it's more interesting than another "look what it built" screenshot. Most of these tools split into two camps. Cursor and similar are built for people who already write code and want an AI that speeds up the parts they'd otherwise type by hand - you're still the one reviewing diffs and thinking about architecture. Bolt, Lovable, Replit Agent, and us are built for the other case: someone with a real idea and no interest in touching code at all, who wants a working product, not a prototype they hand off later. Where we're trying to be different inside that second camp is what happens after the first prompt. A lot of "describe it and get an app" tools are strong at the demo - a clean UI in one shot and then get shaky once you need it to actually do things: take payments, store real data, connect to the tools your business already runs on. Greta.sh wires in Stripe, MongoDB, Google Ads, and a growing list of services through MCP from the start, and the deploy step handles domain setup, SEO basics, and security checks rather than leaving you to figure that out after the "wow" moment wears off. That's the bet: less impressive on a 30-second demo, more useful on day 30. Where it's genuinely not a fit yet: if you need fine-grained control over architecture, or you're building something with real complexity in the business logic, you'll hit the edges of natural-language building faster than marketing copy admits. That's true for us and for every tool in t
