...when you sell $800 product at 0.4% with 90% margins against $19 product at 3% conversion and 20% margins.
Increase your traffic instead of decreasing your price while trying to bump your stats!
Sometimes I think people get too obsessed with stats rather than the overall picture/goal.
I'm not saying people should do what I've done, but I've never really paid attention to conversion rates. I focus on the results. Are people reading, visiting, buying?
I do enjoy looking at stats and love seeing a graph going up though! :D
Life is imperfect in all sorts of ways :D
Absolutely. Unfortunately, a lot of people fell into the trap of 2-3% conversion rate. Each product is different, each product converts differently.
Partially agree and partially arguable. @BartBoch
It depends on many internal and external factors, just to name a few: industry, customer life time value, business model, overhead cost etc
Conversion rate is an important metric but not the only, like you said traffic also matters. It's also interesting to look at other factors that influence your sales.
That's the point. Conversion is important, but you need to wage where to invest your resources - conversion optimization or traffic driving. If you are spending a month to increase conversion rate by 0.1% you need to ask yourself if it would be better to just invest this time to drive more traffic instead.
