My name is Ahmed. 16 year old starting first B2B startup. I've seen a lot of people say that they got their first 100 customers through reddit and twitter without spending a dime and it's getting too much like everyone is saying the same thing. Does this thing really work nowadays? I'm a bit confused in it as I'm still new to this. Guide me in the right direction what should I do to get first 100 paying customers and if reddit thing is still working let me know how can I do it?
go super niche
find where your customer live online and hang out
find niche ways to reach them
dont try to go viral and get 1000s of views
focus on getting 1 customer first in ways that dont scale
I would also try using Twitter as a way to validate by reaching out to people! Less of sales conversation, more of a discovery/user interview.
It's nice to see a 16 year old starting a start up! I would recommend you to launch your product on product hunt. Build connections talk to people, use LinkedIn connect with them and let them know about your product when you launch.
Feels like product hunt is not what it used to be. I recently did a product launch but only got emails from spammers that's it
Definitely still works. Give a lot of value and free stuff in your posts. Only plug at the end of your posts and be brief. I've learned that the more you give away for free, the more you can get away with. Also, if you don't feel comfortable linking your site, just make sure you optimize your profile. Readers always view profile of OP's on reddit
Be careful with Reddit as it's likely the mods will just remove the post for spam and social media can feel like you're just screaming into the void. So instead I recommend getting influencers and blogger to share your project with their audience. You'll probably get 100 "Nos" before a "yes" but getting one post/video out to 10,000 subscribers is way better than writing 100 tweets and barely getting any traction. But do it all, it's your business and the more effort you do to get the word out the better.
