Hey IH !

Do you listen to music to stay focused ? What kind ?

I'm looking to know how music affects productivity :)

Definitely. I don't have a specific playlist or even music style for work, just anything that I enjoy and feel like listening to at that moment. Not sure if it effects productivity in a meaningful way, but at least I feel better so that probably helps.

      Thanks for your answer :)

This is an odd one, but psytrance is AMAZING to work to. Something about the constant, driving beat, no vocals, and low amount of variation in each song has the same effect as video game music; it keeps you engaged and active without being distracted. Really easy to get into the zone while working with it playing 🤓

I'm happy to see I'm not the only one listening to psytrance while working :D

        It's so good, right? :D

Yes. Progressive eletronic music. I totally agree with @jamesdaly

Thank you guys for your feedback ! I would love to create a simple and free app that :

    • Send me every day one or two ours of music that help me to stay calm and focused
    • Have a very simple interface (no distractions, no search bar, no playlist)
    • Let me vote for the song of tomorrow

Do you see other features ? Needs ?

I went through a phase on listening to train sounds on Spotify. It actually worked for me

Sure, I listen anything, from classic to rock

Brain.fm for me. If not that, I listen to 65daysofstatic, God is an Astronaut, anything by Thomas Bergeron, and music from Interstellar.

I love Flow State. An email everyday with music to work to.
I have used Brain.fm and like it a lot.
In the far past I would listen to 1 song on repeat for an hour or more.

I expected that Flow State newsletter to be free. I'm not paying for it– I just can't subscribe for every interesting thing out there.

I wish these folks would consider one-time payment, or at least somehow get rid of the "subscription" wording.

I see "subscription", I run. Unless it's something actually useful, but this is not that useful.

Here's a link to see the free ones: https://flowstate.substack.com/

I get it for free. I think their signup is misleading. seems it's only available for subscription. but I signed up for free, they don't have my payment details.

I also avoid vocals since they jolt me out of flow, with the exception of languages that I don't speak. Those seem to be ok. Lately I've been listening to Japanese progressive rock and chiptunes while coding.
