Do you read on Kindle non-fiction books and highlight/take notes? What do you that with that? What use do you find for them?
I like to highlight the most important concepts and at the end of the book I create a summary in gdoc order to can revisit it when I’m interested in refreshing the topic.

Hey Tristan, are you saying that Readwise copied(or imitated) Clippings, Snippet, Klib, Knotes, and Kintrospect? Because I don’t think that, I’ve used readwise the last week and I like it (but not soo much to flatter it 😉)
I have some problems and I’m just trying to validate if there are more people like me, that’s the reason of the post and of this community, share ideas and receive “constructive” feedback.

I have a readwise subscription so my note taking strategy pretty much revolves around that.
I heard about readwise but I've never tried it.
What do you like more about readwise?
It's just super clean and low maintenance. The main strategy of these guys seems to be, whatever happens don't get in the way of the user. There are multiple upload tools, all very simple. If you stop reading the notes they send you, they'll automatically decrease the email frequency. If you start reading a lot of them again, they'll increase it. Most of all it's simple.

I don't use Kindle to 'learn', so I can't share experience with this device.
I love 'live' books, I like to leave fingerprints on the books, I draw and write to them without tiny regret. If something hits my attention I draw pictures/diagrams in the corners. Sometimes I number arguments, write what is 'pros' what is 'const' on the side. I use different colours for different information and different icons on the side or side notes.
I do same with pdfs on iMac.
When I need refreshment, I go through Menu a then visually jumps through icons, highlights.
Write physical books hurts me :p But I got your point, thanks for sharing your reading routine!
It was big pain for me too and took years to overcome regrets :)
i have a kindle paper white but i rarely highlight anything and even when i do highlight something i never go back to it. i had to change this attitude :D

Mostly i read non-fiction books and books related to my job field. i would like a tool that can make it easy to list all the text i highlighted in a book.

I take notes on all books that I read.
With Kindle books (fiction + nonfiction) I'll highlight passages I like then move them over to a gdoc later.
With dead tree (paper) books, I'll highlight and make an index in the front of the book of all my highlights and then type those highlights into a gdoc later too.
I used to post my notes on my personal site (https://www.davidwparker.com) but haven't done that in years, mostly because I've been lazy.
I was reviewing your Books summaries in your site, you do a good job! I like do the same in a notebook and creates mindmaps, but my problem with that is when I try to find "all of my learns about 'OpenGL'" I can't do it easily.

By "non-fiction", I assume you mean technical books for study purposes (as opposed to books on history/philosophy/etc).
To be honest, I usually read technical books on my iPad Mini rather than Kindle, because I need to flick back between pages and the Kindle refresh rate is too slow for me.
As far as note-taking goes, I have a stack of hardcopy notebooks. Works perfectly for me.
I agree with you about the slow refresh of the Kindle, hope they solve it in the next ones.
What about if you want to review all the notes/highlights of all books(Marketing for example) do you read in the last years?
I don't highlight things electronically, so when I want to note something, I write it down in my notebook.
If I want to review my notes, I just flick through the notebook.
Read on ebook and takes notes on laptop.
If after 30 pages I find it really interesting (let's say 1 book over 20) or I buy the physical copy or I print it out to be able to highlight and take notes in the good old way.
I then transcribe the notes on a .doc for each book and at the end of each document I do a key takeaway list.
Once in a while I merge all the take away lists in a big excel file divided by subjects (marketing, innovation, idea generation, sales, UX-UI .. )

You save manually or Kindle sync with Goodreads?
If a book is not bought on Amazon, for me sync with Goodreads do not work at all. I wonder is there a way to import notes into Goodreas?
You can't import highlights and notes from books not bought on Amazon. Also, the Goodreads highlights/notes access isn't simple and easy. Yep, that's one fix, but still a complicated the process and not easy to manage if you read a lot
