Total noob question: is Buffer the ideal way to manage all of my social media stuff?
I never had a FB/IG/Twitter account until I had to set them up to be able to join the developer community with oAuth logins... So I'm a bit behind the 8-ball. I don't naturally get on social media and post stuff so it would be best if I could schedule stuff out 1-2x/week to avoid spending time every day on social media posting.
Thoughts?
Buffer is definitely a good start. Their Free Plan is more than enough to schedule out content and get started. We still use it after 2 years.
I will say... social media has really moved from a place of engagement rather than just broadcasting. Getting started with scheduling is great but for great results, you have to jump-in in real time for the conversation.
I started using HootSuite but kind of just found it a nuisance. It is not that difficult to login to your individual accounts, the interfaces are better / more native. Most platforms also have scheduling features now.
Also, I spoke to an individual making $1M+ on Facebook affiliate marketing. She mentioned that Facebook has a concept of a quality score or something like that. If a post has been made via their API from another platform, that post will be lowered in quality and reach will be smaller. I guess this is just a harsh way of trying to keep people on platform. Probably most relevant for someone doing high end / advanced marketing, but something you may want to read up on.
Thanks for all the input all. I didn't realize that FB and TW lowered the reach of API generated posts... I agree with you @wavve about engagement, I just have never engaged via social media. In fact IH is the most I've ever engaged in any online community. It's a struggle for me for sure, but one I probably need to either commit to or get someone to do it for me.
You are off to a good start @mike_libate
I'm not a big social person myself, but I I found https://amplifr.com/ more usable.
Yes Mike. Go for it.
It's better than nothing, but in my experience Facebook and Twitter have really worked out how to identify posts coming from a scheduling app and gives them much lower priority on their timelines, even for people who are following.
