Day 4 after launching https://designershumor.com and it's going better than I expected.

29,648 page views so far and it's growing steadily.

The goal is to continue growing the traffic while driving that traffic to my other products through ads:

http://desket.co
https://mousecrafted.com
https://www.growyourclicks.com
https://workforthem.com

I keep telling anyone who will listen, first build your audience/ network then drive that audience to your products.

For anyone interested, I'm creating a Twitter thread tracking my progress on growing to 1M impressions per month. https://twitter.com/Delahuntagram/status/1091231204932755456

Wow,.. whats the strategy here?10k in 4 days??

    1. 2

Spending 2 years building my network/ audience :)

        1. 2

If I could like this more I would <3

To be honest this might result in being your most successful product.

Where do you get the images from?

    1. 1

Depends on what you define as successful? To me success is based on how much revenue my product makes, in that case then it would be hands down www.growyourclicks.com

      1. 2

I agree. I don't know how much growyourclicks is doing, but designerhumor has a lot of potential.

    This is 9gag redesigned :)

    1. 1

100% why redesign the wheel :D

      1. 2

I remember you only posting a new product a month or two back. Can I ask how you build a 9gag-like platform (love 9gag btw) so quickly? Did you build it yourself or outsource?

        1. 1

Wordpress my man, this is the theme I used https://boombox.px-lab.com/another-gag/ cost me $69 plus $4.99 p/m for hosting. I've already made that money back plus $500 extra through advertising.

          1. 2

That's so cool, love that you're focussing on shipping so quickly. Spent ages building my own app with it's own up/down voting system. Looking forward to seeing more.

One thing I learned from working in many startups was that they take so LONG to get the product to market, all you hear is "Oh, it's not ready yet" or "we need to add X feature"

              FUCK THAT!

If I have an idea, I will first see if I can use an already built platform - Wordpress, Shopify, Teachable ect and if I can't then I will hire a dev to build the fastest MVP possible.

You could spend 2 years building a product only to launch and find out nobody wants your product as opposed to spending 3-4 months building an MVP. You will have saved yourself 16 months to move onto the next idea.

This is what I do every year.

I've felt this pain. It took me years to come to the same conclusion

    Holy crap bro thats incredible!

    1. 1

      Thanks my man :D

    1. 1

      Sent you an email

  7. 2

    Jesus that's insane :D

  8. 2

Nice going! Did you do a write-up of what you did to get that amount of visitors that fast?

    1. 2

Thanks, dude, the traffic is primarily from my own network that I built across Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Tumblr over the last few years. It's why I keep banging on the importance of building your network :)

      1. 1

I was about to write "How the hell did you get 10.5k users in 4 days", but you just answered it.

        Very impressive.

Any suggestions for those who don't have that ready-made network?

        1. 2

Yes, start building today not tomorrow. Look at building an audience on all networks, create a plan and follow it every single day. The key to growing a big network is down to consistency. People get disheartened after the first week and give up, you need to remember why you're building a network. I've been working on mine for over 2 years every single day.

@daviddel this is awesome. Saw this getting shared on our slack design channel at work yesterday. Quick question re: building your audience

Does the audience I'm building have to fit the products I end up selling? For example, what if you've spent years building an audience of athletes who might not care about a design product you've suddenly had the hunch to build? Do you have to start building the audience over again?

    1. 1

That's great to hear Roman, thanks for sharing.

Depends are you building an audience for your personal brand or the fitness brand?
