1,204 cold emails sitting in a queue waiting for gmail to come back
gmail restricted my account 2 days ago for "sending unwanted content." i had sent 367 cold emails over 2 weeks. now i have 1,204 emails queued across 4 niches and i cant send a single one.
the pipeline
- 428 marketing agency pitches (54 countries, personalized with SEO scan data)
- 222 dentist practices (AU regional cities — geelong, ballarat, bendigo, etc)
- 554 multi-niche prospects (accountants, physios, real estate agents — 6 AU cities)
all drafted, all personalized, all ready to go. sitting in json files on a linux server.
what got me restricted
367 emails in 14 days from a personal gmail. thats about 26/day which is technically under the 500/day limit but google flagged it as bulk. the emails were cold outreach — no opt-in, no prior relationship. classic spam trigger.
the appeal
submitted a gmail appeal on march 30. expected 24-48 hours. its now april 1 and still restricted. SMTP returns 5.7.9 error. IMAP login fails too.
the lesson
dont use personal gmail for cold outreach at scale. use a dedicated sending service with domain warmup. i knew this going in but figured 25/day would fly under the radar. it didnt.
what im doing while i wait
posting on IH (44+ posts now), dev.to articles for SEO, scraping more prospects. building the pipeline bigger so when gmail comes back, theres a massive batch ready to fire.
