#1 FinTech on Product Hunt
I wanted to share a quick story on how we went from launching and getting nowhere, to ranking as the #1 fintech for the week on product hunt.
6 Months ago we launched mypaylink. An app for freelancers and content creators to share all their payment options in one link to either collect payment for services of donations from fans. We launched on product hunt to complete obscurity, it just didn't work and nobody was really clear on why we existed.
After scratching my head for sometime, I realised the target audience just wasn't clear. We couldn't target freelancers AND content creators. We had to pick one, and so we went with content creators.
Why? Well they were already using products like buymeacoffee to collect tips from fans, and we could help them do that with ZERO commission and no processing fees.
So we repackaged mypaylink into tipptree. A solution to help content creators collect tips from fans with no commissions. We relaunched on product hunt and the difference was night and day!
We ranked #4 for the day, #1 fintech for the week and all the comments were clear, everyone understood why the app existed, and i guess that was the problem all along.

Great move to niche down. My question is how you know that selecting content creators is a move that will move you forward ? Is it just a guest or there is some clear data that pointing towards that ?
Beside that since you are so kind to share your tips, I would like you to give you free customer analysis report for google and reddit : TIPPTREE CUSTOMER ANALYSIS
From the customer analysis you could see that your potential customer interested about content creation specifically about content creation tips and tricks, content creation for social media and content creation tools for beginners.
There is all the volume, difficulty, comments, what they talked about etc from the analysis. Hope fully it will help you moving forward.
