#1 Hack to Get Traffic for your startup in the early stage 🚀

Hey Indiehackers,

I know how difficult it is to get visitors to our website in the early days. Traditional methods like SEO and social media are great, but they can take time to see results.

In the early stages of our startup, we need users to:

  1. Validate our idea
  2. Keep our momentum going and
  3. Build confidence in our product

One way to achieve this is by launching on Product Hunt. This can bring in a lot of traffic for a week, but then it's back to square one. That's what happened to us.

We launched our startup on Product Hunt, and got hundreds of visits in the first 2 days of launch. But by the next week, we were again back to zero traffic.

So, we looked for a solution to keep getting consistent traffic to our startup and finally discovered a solution for this.

That solution that worked for us was to launch our startup on all the launch platforms and startup communities.

There are more than a dozen launch platforms, forums and communities for startups like Product Hunt that can get traffic to your website for free. This will give you the initial traction you need to get things going.

I’m building a list of places and I will share it here once it’s ready.

Let me know if you're interested!!

great you have done good work on your project and no doubt the launch sites are awesome for the initial traffic for the free and their chances of conversion are also high because these people know and understand the need for products that help them in their business growth.

The best thing is that if your product is workable then the traffic is converted into customers else you may be lost in Jungle.

We used the same way we show the visitor how our tool can boost their revenue and how they can save thousands of $$$$ which they are losing in customer churn.

we worked on customer churn and developed a tool that helped the membership business to grow their business and reduce its customer churn.

Check out how Customer retention tool churnfree can help your membership business to grow your revenue.

I think one important caveat here is that where you should launch depends hugely on who your target customer is.

I've seen many startup founders mistake where they hang out for where their customer hangs out. Launching on ProductHunt is great if your target customer is "tech-savvy early adopter" and terrible if your target customer is "forward-thinking dentist".

Yeah, this absolutely makes sense. We should always check the type of audience on the platform also. Product Hunt is good for SAAS or Growth products than some offline business.

Wow! Really love your idea! I indeed have the same problem as you mentioned. Would love to check your product soon

      Cool!!

Check it out and let me know if you have any suggestions.

I am more interested to know what your business model is when it comes to launching your startup.

For me, when it comes to launching products, I usually speak directly with my target market.

That way, I can validate the product idea more quickly.

By taking in suggestions (from different sources/platforms), I am able to generate a strong idea on which product that needs to be created.

      This is a nice approach.

I'm talking about getting traffic consistently!!

This is what I was looking for. Because my team and I want to launch around April and I am the business developer. I feel like it would be good that all members to get involved in marketing but they are busy developing. So I could not ask to get involved in developing and startup community at the same time. But I figured out they might need to get involved as soon as they have some time to do it.

That is a great tip! I have an indie app myself and for now I am relying only on the organic traffic. It's working fine so far but I should definitely look for other tools and ways how to get more users. Thank for this post!

    1. 1

That's great Maros!! Diversification is the key 🚀!!

You are working on SEO or any other organic traffic source right now?

      1. 1

Well at the moment I am just trying to improve my AppStore Optimization and that's generating me all of the traffic my app currently has. But I would like to do more marketing stuff to generate leads. Something like free pdfs or blog posts.

Early stage growth = doing things that don't scale

We got a lot of success on Reddit by jumping into relevant convos and providing value, offering help, and plugging our product when it made sense.

For this use case, we built a Reddit keyword monitoring tool to make the job easier. It sends you a notification whenever your KW is mentioned. It saves a lot of time!
