Sooo I just had a Tweet go viral and now I am somewhat confused how Twitter works.

I am confused because I have been Tweeting the EXACT same content in a different format for months now... and for some reason this one took off...
I guess I just need to be more rude on Twitter? haha
Funny and informative, what's not to like? Very different from what I usually see on Twitter too.

I'm not a Twitter expert but it seems to me that speaking with authority is an important aspect of growing your following and going viral. By being "rude", your writing style increased the perception of authority and competence.
I'm guessing it played well also with the side of Twitter that is big on self-improvement and motivation. The thread had a feel of a drill sergeant giving you commands - some people really need that / want that to get them in the right mindset.

Wow. This is a very interesting take, and I think you are correct. There are a LOT of talkers on Twitter and if you can prove that you have actually done something, it seems to unlock a lot of followers.
To your point though, just saying that you have done something is not enough, it seems that you have to make it slightly different then the thousands of other posts people are reading.
