I have been reading and learning about growth for the last 6-8 months or so and sharing my thoughts on Twitter for the last 2 months. We use a lot of jargons or heavy words or metrics or frameworks or some random words but I found out that there are 10 fundamental points of growth if done right then covers almost all the frameworks or metrics or jargon. These points are like the first principle thinking, see I might be wrong this is just my take, I'm constantly updating this list.
a. Distribution - You need to figure out your distribution channels, it can be anything like SEO or paid or community-driven or content or blogs or others. Focusing on a few things and then doubling down on what's working.
b. Experiments - You gotta do a lot of experiments and that too fast. The better you get at analysing the experiments the better your growth strategy becomes. test things out, A/B testing.
c. Recall - Product needs to have recall which means users should remember about you and come back to use your product i.e. retention. You can consider this as growth loops as well, recall on automation.
d. Reference - We use the reference of someone regarding something and that's what's needed you need those referrals. People should feel about using your product and then they can give reference to your product to others.
e. Friction - Friction is bad and you need to reduce it. Try to reduce friction points and make the experience seamless for the end-users.
f. Momentum - Momentum is everything, you need momentum to get going fast & scale. It's like having the flywheel.
g. Communication - You really need to communicate properly to the end-users. Right from your design to experience to copy to navigations to PR you need to communicate to stat your value effectively and sell the idea of the product and the not product.
h. Data - Yes data, you need data to make a decision but don't forget to go with your gut feeling, many times you know the answer but data is really crucial you need to have a look into it and better optimize your performance according to the data. Numbers don't lie.
i. Empathy - You need to put yourself into the users' shoes and think through. Without having empathy for the end-users you won't make a great product and scale.
j. Storytelling - It has to be a story because if you are following a set of steps or framework or some proven methods users won't get that human touch from the product rather they will feel like been sold out.
I'm not saying this is right or the only fundamental 10 points for growth, I'm still working on this and trying to really boil it down to basic words. Will share a new update if I improve upon this list. But do share your thoughts on the same.
