Launching new startups and getting the first users is always stressful, especially when you are a first founder. You don't know where to look and don't have any strategy.
In today's post, I listed 10 places where you can launch your startup, so you can focus on acquiring users!
Betalist is a startup directory where you can post startups that are still in beta.
The website gets 250,000+ page views per month. The newsletter has 30,000+ subscribers. That's a HUGE opportunity to get traction even before the official release!
IndieHackers is a small but super active and friendly community of startup founders. Launching here super early will get you some feedback and advice.
Super valuable if you're a first-time founder! Don't expect too much traction, tho!
Twitter is a fantastic place to launch your startup (and to build them in public!). I personally launch all my projects there. 80% of my revenues still come from Twitter.
That's a great way to get early exposure and traction! If you don't know how to build a following on Twitter, you can check the post I made about it or get my free playbook.
There is a ton of startup directories online, some of them are super small, but some are REALLY big.
Directories are a great way to get some users, and it also builds your SEO.
The best startups directories are:
Reddit is magic! It's a pool of potential users! It's a place where you can find a community for almost everything.
But, as you may know, Reddit can be hard sometimes. My advice would be to launch there when your product is ready! I made a breakdown of how you should use Reddit.
The best subreddit for startups:
But there are plenty more! Use the tools of the last issue to explore!
If you're a startup, you probably know HackerNews. It's a news aggregator made by the Y Combinator.
Hitting the front page of HN is a real success. It brings thousands of visitors to your website in a few hours. You better be prepared! You can launch your product there by using the [ShowHN] tag.
Last but not least, ProductHunt is THE place to launch your startup! A good PH launch will get you attention, traction, and some social proof afterward.
It's not that hard, but you should prepare it to make the best launch possible (you only have one shot!)
NB: This post has been originally posted on my newsletter
Cool.
On casuaris.co you can find a list of 80+ sites to launch your startups.
I recommend launching and pre launching in communities first. Betalist & ProductHunt only give you one chance, so it is best to launch on these platforms later, after you've polished your service.
You can find 400+ of them in my Notion template for startups :D
Just today, as a showcase for the saas product I'm working on quotas.io, I created a list of over 200 places to launch or list your saas or app.
That list is here .
These are fantastic ideas. Thanks for sharing!
I just spent wayyy too much time exploring cool products on Betalist... 😂
Ahaha betalist is like ProductHunt, super dangerous for guys like us 😃
Hey Xavier, do you have a platform yourself?
No but I created a Notion template that list all the places where you can launch, with the detailed strategy for every channel → https://userbooster.co
Interesting post, thanks for sharing!
And funny enough, I have just released a tool that helps founders submit their startups to the various aggregators (marketroadie.com). It is still a work in progress (adding additional aggregators now), but the basic functionality is there.
It might be helpful to some. And your list definitely is, so thanks again!
@davidbelgrade excellent idea. We have a lot of aggregators but none of them actually do what we need: spread the word. I'll keep my eyes on Market Roadie.
Thanks! I'm still polishing it a bit, but you can submit your project (there is a free option) and I'll add it to a couple of places for you.
Thanks for the list!
Thanks for the list, this is cool
There is a group on Linkedin for Side Projects

Great post! So many great and interesting ideas you can find on Betalist.
Good site to pre-launch new projects :)
Thanks man, haven't started my product yet, but this list is substantially helpful
Cool list, saved it for later, thanks for sharing!
Thanks! :)
I'd add AppSumo to this list- have been able to find fantastic startups through there in which I support up to this day!
I launched one product there, and I got 1 sale in 8 months...
I haven't cracked the code I think 😂
(Plus you need lifetime deals for appsumo)
Thanks for the list!
Thanks for this list!
Of course! I'm gonna write a down a longer piece of content on my blog about this
Loved the list!!
Been wanting to launch on indiehacker but I still haven't Unlock special privileges yet :')
The new moderation system is super restrictive... I hope you'll get them soon!
@xavier, what would you recommend for launching/promoting info products?
For info products you need to build trust. Social media are a great to do it, I'm personally a fan of Twitter for that
This is fire thank you !
Thank you!
There is soooo much more to say, I'll probably write a super complete guide in the next few days!
thanks for sharing
