$11,000 MRR πŸ™Œ

This amazing journey started here on Indie Hackers with our public MRR announcement in 2020. We were a small firm (and we still are, haha) with just broke $3,500 MRR.

Sometimes people see our recent success and think that it came overnight. In reality we have invested thousands of hours of coding and writing to get to this point.

We got our first paying subscriber on May 1th in 2018 and then it took us more than a year to reach the first $1,000 MRR. And now it took us 30 days to go from 10k to 11k which is a new record!
We've documented the whole journey to date in our IH milestones so do explore and ask us anything.

ConveyThis is currently installed on 26,000 websites and we’ve counted over a billion page views in December.

It's an incredible feeling to have achieved this! We want to thank all of you who use ConveyThis, who support us and who spread the word about us on Indie Hackers and around the web! πŸ™Œ

Congratulations Alex - that's an incredible achievement.

How are you guys doing related to monthly profitability?

I look at that a lot now for my different product/business initiatives. While I love building things, if the project isn't throwing off enough profit after some time, I ask myself whether or not it's worth the time investment.

Obviously you guys are on the right trajectory, so that's good, but curious as to how you are managing profitability atm.

Also, how is your LLC business structured? Have you elected to be taxed as an S-Corp, or are you just taxed as a typical partnership?

Basic accounting. Keeping the costs down yelds more profitability.
I don't pay any salary to myself and don't plan to. The goal is to crush the competitors at any cost. Are you looking to start something similar?

Me starting similar to ConveyThis? Gosh no 😁

I've got a few side-hustles already, and I'm just trying to fine-tune things as it pertains to lowering tax liability. That's why I asked about profitability & how your LLC was structured/taxed, since you have a SaaS, and they can be high margin businesses.

If you're not taking any salary yet, or taking any distributions from the LLC, you don't have to worry as much about tax liability (self-employment + ordinary income from profit).

Also, if you're not profitable, you don't have to worry about that either :)
