1200 page views in 12 days from one post

Hi Indie Hackers, just wanted to share how I got a decent amount of page views in relatively short amount of time.

On February 2nd, I posted this page https://www.finisher.co/lab/header to dev.to (https://dev.to/kimyanna/freebie-animated-website-header-generator-31ki) and I was pretty surprised with how well it has done.

It was my very first post to dev.to, so I don't know the baseline, but since February 2nd, I got over 1200 page views. Not all of the views came from dev.to as the link was shared on social media and other developer communities.

Here are the stats of the original dev.to post:

The post stayed on the homepage of dev.to for about 24 hours and was moving up and down, roughly between positions 3 and 20 throughout the day.

The page keeps getting hits almost two weeks after posting it, yesterday was actually the best day of all when it brought 300 visitors. The downside is that the traffic isn't converting too well for me as my product isn't made for developers who mainly go to the page. But some of you, who have products for developers might consider dev.to as potentially great source of traffic.

Great tool, I'm starting to using it for a new landing page. Thank you !

If you have a github link, share it, i'll star it

Thank you! :) I use it both for a header and footer on my homepage. It's not on Github, but thanks for a good idea, might as well put it there.

Amazing I have a list of free tools I want to build for developers/marketers.

https://versoly.com/ allows you to copy and paste HTML in so easily compared to other tools so makes sense. Especially with your results.

Never thought about posting to dev.to

Yeah definitely, it should work for you. The community is super friendly and seems to like cool front-end stuff like this. This post from a few days ago blew it out of the ballpark, lots of comments and likes and most likely traffic as well:
