OK, I'm new here. I've decided to take the leap, and am going to start working on a project I've always wanted to make. A simple one, but instead of doing it the easy and quick way, I want to challenge myself to use modern web technologies like NodeJS to do it. I've used PHP, I can do it in PHP in under a month, but I want to dabble in Node. Is this a bad idea?
It's a bad idea if you want to turn your idea into a business.
If that's what you want, you should aim to validate your idea as quickly and with as little effort as possible (preferably before you write any code at all), so you have time and energy to do the vast amount of non-coding work which is what will actually help your business to succeed.
If you just want to learn node and have fun noodling around with your concept, then it's a great idea.
