14 Day MVP Launched 🚀

Hey all!

I had a strict deadline of 14 working days to create an MVP and today I launched it!

https://memcard.io lets you easily create flashcards that automatically let you know when to review them.

Unfortunately, one of the features I wanted in the MVP didn't make the deadline, so sadly there are no 2 sides cards at the moment.

I'd love to know what y'all think of the landing page, and if you're adventurous, the product itself! I think I squashed most the bugs but more could be lurking.

For those who use Anki, I'd love to know what issues you have with it. I'd also love to know if you actually use most its features.

Thanks!

I don't really like the tilted picture/video on the right, kinda hard to read especially with that blurry font - why couldn't it just be straight? Other than that good job launching that fast!

Thanks! I thought so too but when I tried straightening it, it looked weird. Of course, I can A/B test it later.

How did you build this UI? It's beautiful

Using the power of $50 to purchase a bootstrap theme! :)

Of course, I still had to figure out the layout and whatnot but the heavy lifting of the design work is done for me!

In fact, if you scroll down you can even recognize some of the elements I used for the landing page, "Desktop App".

Great job launching the product so fast! Launching is one of the things I struggle the most with and setting deadline like this really pushes you to get the most MVP out there.

I don't think I've seen Drift before, I'm going to incorporate that to my site next time as well :D

Thanks! Before this I was working on another thing and didn't have anything public other than a landing page for over a year. Had to do make sure that doesn't happen again!

Kinda lets me know that I'm living in a bubble, I thought every person on this site (and every startup) uses Drift haha. Good news for you it's very simple to setup and is free for 1 user.

    Pretty cool and nice UI.

I use Anki mostly because it allows me to easily sync between my PC/mobile/tablet.

I'm pretty sure you could target successfully people who are just getting introduced to the concept of flashcards, and haven't heard about Anki or any of its competitors. So maybe content marketing (writing articles about the benefits of flashcards, etc.) could work for you here.

Yeah I mostly used a workflow of create on desktop -> study on mobile. Syncing was okay till I made a minor change that forced a full sync and wiped a day's worth of studying.

Do you use any of the more fancy features? I've asked a friend who used flash cards and he said he doesn't use most of them. I didn't use most of them to. Just regular and reversible flash cards. The thing that mostly bothered me is the lack of markdown and that the fundamental experience (create simple flash cards and study) just didn't feel good. Hence the MVP is mostly catered to what I want and I wonder if there are others like me.

Yeah I was thinking of targeting students (finding them on subreddits and messaging them) who either haven't gotten into Anki yet or find it too confusing (I think its UX is stupid intimidating for new users).

Might have to check out your PDF ;)
