As a SaaS Founder/CEO with a small team looking to expand, what do you think is the #1 most important thing to put your time towards?
Sales. Because traction makes everything else work (in my opinion)
That's what we're currently doing and not seeing the results we hoped and planned for
As a founder am sure you're doing your best to bring more people into your platform. My only advice would be, talk and listen to your paying customer and focus on that they need instead of what they want.
The customer interview is one of the most underestimated parts in a startup. If you ask you, customer, they will ask for a unicorn but the key to understand what part of there request is a need and want.
-Ask what would they pay XX for that extra convenience.
-Ask If it will save them time and its there is any other way to do it.
-Ask how they do it now?
-Ask them if they were to leave your platform what would be the biggest reason and change that.
I am not a fan of survey and freebies as I think. If you can call and talk, people appreciate talking to founder and see if your platform can benefit by working on creating a community.
To me, I've found the most important thing to be to understand your customer at a deep deep level.
I run Greenline POS (https://getgreenline.co), and I spend most of my time thinking about my users. What do they wake up worried about in their lives? What does Greenline do for them now? What do they wish Greenline could do for them?
I'd normally agree with the suggestion to just focus on sales, but I think understanding the customer is a giant pre-requisite to that. Once you can truly step into a customer's shoes, you know how to talk about the problem and how to provide value to everyone.
Thanks for the feedback, we may need to double down on our Avitar :)
Sales, people, customers.
We are 100% customer first, we're working hard on sales...
Knowing why you're expanding your team is as important as figuring out how. Each team values their time is different. Once you know what hurdles you face - and where the biggest impact will be - you'll know where to put your efforts. E.g. some teams may have difficulty attracting talent while others may have issues with turnover.
Great feedback, thank you
