15 Best FPS Games 2021

PC games are available in a wide range of entertaining formats. Strategy games, for example, both turn-based and real-time, put your tactical skills to the test. Puzzle games itch the same itch, but they're usually filled with twitchy, block-dropping, or item-shifting challenges.

The shooter, on the other hand, is a hugely popular genre that puts your shooting skills to the test until your enemies are reduced to mush. To improve your aiming skill in FPS games check this aim practice games

There are two types of shooters: first-person and third-person. Because the game you're playing unfolds from your point of view, first-person shooters are often more immersive gaming experiences. Doom (2016) and its sequel, Doom Eternal, are recent standouts in the demon-slaying sub-genre.

Because you can see your on-screen avatar's entire body as it navigates the battlefield in third-person shooters, they simply look better. Vanquish by Platinum Games is a great example of this, as you can see Sam Gideon flying across the battlefield in ability-enhancing power Armour.

On PC, both sniper styles are well-represented. Some of our favorite first- and third-person shooters are listed below.

1. Battlefield V (for PC)

Good (3.5)

Although Battlefield V does not significantly change the first-person shooter landscape, what is included in this package is very nice. The game, which was designed by EA DICE, has a stunning World War II setting and lightning-fast game play that will keep you running and shooting for hours.

Battlefield V has all of the hallmarks of a modern first-person shooter, including respectable single player content (War Stories) and new multiplayer game play mechanics (Grand Operations).

The game's squad-based battle royal mode, Firestorm, can accommodate up to 64 players and showcases the series' signature environmental devastation in spectacular fashion.

2. Borderlands 2

Excellent (4.0)

Gearbox Entertainment and 2K Games have returned to the comedy-filled warzone with Borderlands 2. If you've played the first Borderlands, you'll be familiar with how this first-person shooter works.

You play as a Vault Hunter, a treasure hunter on the lookout for an alien vault on a planet that has yet to be colonized. Hundreds of different weapons, each with its own unique stats and attributes, are collected throughout the guffaw-inducing adventure.

You can slay a seemingly endless number of robots, mutants, and Mad Max-style raiders thanks to the heavy metal.

3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (for PC)

Excellent (4.5)

In recent years, the Call of Duty franchise has gone from WWII campaigns to space adventures to battle royal action, with a focus shift from WWII campaigns to space adventures to battle royal action. Despite the fact that Call of Duty has drifted from its origins, the Infinity Ward-developed reboot of the seminal 2007 title brings the first-person shooter series back to its roots.

Modern Warfare has the tactical single-player and robust multiplayer modes that one would expect from a Call of Duty game, but it effectively eliminates all unnecessary features.

That isn't to say Modern Warfare doesn't have its share of nifty features. In the single player campaign, a new rewards-based morality system ranks your ability to correctly distinguish innocent people from legitimate threats.

4. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Excellent (4.0)

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (AKA CS: GO), a free-to-play game from Valve, is one of the most popular games of its generation. CS:GO is a fast-paced first-person shooter from 2012 that still holds its own against contemporary titles, thanks to a solid FPS heritage that includes the original Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike: Source.

Sure, CS: GO is showing its age in some areas, especially in terms of the somewhat dated visual design, but the extremely active community offers a highly competitive esports scene.

5. Doom (2016)

Excellent (4.5)

No, this isn't the original, genre-defining 1993 film. This is Doom, the innumerable 2016 entry in the series that surpassed many gamers' expectations. You play as the armed-to-the-teeth Doom Slayer, fighting Hell's minions on Mars once more.

As a result, you'll be attacked from all sides by goat-legged skeleton men, flying, flaming skulls, and other grotesque hordes.

The id Software-crafted Doom combines old-school design with modern know-how to form a satisfying, unholy concoction. It features gory, frantic, demon-blasting game play and a blood-pumping heavy metal soundtrack.

6. Doom Eternal

Excellent (4.5)

Doom 2016 re imagined the classic shooter by adding more weapons, demons, stunning stage design, and an epic heavy metal soundtrack. The sequel, Doom Eternal, cranks things up to eleven.

Demons have invaded and conquered Earth in Doom Eternal, and your player-character, the simply named Doom Slayer, must defeat them.

Although Doom Eternal includes more store elements than Doom 2016, especially the origins of the Doom Slayer, that isn't the main attraction. Doom Eternal has only one true goal: to kill demons in ever-more gruesome and brutal ways.

Doom Eternal is a worthy follow-up to one of the best contemporary shooters around, with satisfying stage navigation choices, myriad secrets to uncover, and a new 2-vs.-1 multiplayer Battle mode.

7. Gears 5 (for PC)

Excellent (4.0)

Gears 5 is the first major game in the beloved third-person shooter series to drop the "of War" suffix, but don't let that fool you: this is still a Gears of War game.

Gears 5 is a direct sequel to Gears of War 4, and it continues the rivalry between the Coalition of Ordered Government (COG) and the alien Swarm.

Gears 5's compelling store, solid shoot-and-cover mechanics, and stunning graphics far outweigh the game's mediocre multiplayer modes. Regardless, Gears 5 is a solid choice for fans of the series as well as newcomers.

8. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary (for PC)

Excellent (4.0)

The game that launched a beloved Microsoft franchise and put the original Xbox on the map is Halo: Combat Evolved. It reimagined the console first-person shooter (FPS) genre and popularised many of the controls and functions that would be used in such games for decades to come.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, a 2011 Xbox 360 improved remake, featured updated graphics and a toggle function that lets you switch between Classic and Remastered visual styles.

The updated Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, which is part of the new Master Chief Collection, features 4K graphics, ultrawide monitor support, and other features you'd expect from a modern PC game. It's an excellent remastering with only minor audio and visual flaws.

9. Halo: Reach (for PC)

Good (3.5)

The updated Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, which is part of the new Master Chief Collection, features 4K graphics, ultrawide monitor support, and other features you'd expect from a modern PC game. It's an excellent remastering with only minor audio and visual flaws.

Sure, Call of Duty and Battlefield have devoted fans, and Doom may have regained the first-person-shooter crown with its release in 2016, but Halo and its sequels (especially Halo: Reach) hold a special place in many people's hearts.

The newly remastered Halo: Reach—which is included in the Halo: Master Chief Collection, which bundles and updates every mainline Halo release except Halo 5—is the first time the shooter has been released on PC.

The game now has 4K graphics, ultrawide monitor support, and other PC-related features that weren't available in the Xbox 360 version.

The clumsy UI and annoying audio problems detract from the overall experience. The game now has 4K graphics, ultrawide monitor support, and other PC-related features that weren't available in the Xbox 360 version.

However, the clumsy UI and annoying audio problems detract.

10. Overwatch (for PC)

Excellent (4.0)

Shooters don't always have to be dark, gritty, or ultra-realistic affairs, despite how the market often plays out. Wacky, cartoonish fun has its place, too, as evidenced by Blizzard Entertainment's Overwatch.

Overwatch is a highly enjoyable first-person shooter that's full of cheers and mechanical variety, with colourful levels, various game modes that focus on teams attacking and defending, lore-drenched characters with vastly different play styles, and a few MOBA-like gameplay twists.

11. Superhot (for PC)

Excellent (4.5)

Many shooter developers are content to release games that keep things as they are. The artistic team behind Superhot, Superhot Team, is not. Superhot is without a doubt the most innovative shooter in recent memory.

Quick, bite-sized servings of computerised violence are injected with puzzle elements and a bizarre meta-narrative in this first-person shooter. Superhot may appear to be a short, simple game with mediocre graphics on the surface, but the game's addictive time-pausing mechanic will keep you coming back for more stylish kills.

12. Vanquish (for PC)

Excellent (4.5)

"Motion," is "an act, procedure, or instance of changing place." according to Merriam-Webster, That meaning also perfectly encapsulates Platinum Games' wildly inventive Vanquish, a third-person shooter in which static play results in a quick death.

Vanquish's kinetic, jet-powered action brings visual flair (now remastered at 4K) and a superb sense of movement to a near-future setting as you wreck mechs, cars, enemy troops, and super-powered bosses.

If shooters like Battlefield and Call of Duty have turned you off, Vanquish's peculiar power-armor take on the genre might be just the thing to get you to put your in-game weapons on.

Vanquish? That's something I wasn't ready to see on this list, but it's actually a pretty good game, that's true.
