It's been a month since I launched theresanaiforthat.com, the largest aggregator of AI tools and use cases. It's been a wild ride and I would never have expected to get such traction.
For several months I had been working on a massive list of AI tools. When it reached 500 records I decided to make it public and got started working on a website. I soon realized that soon there would be thousands of AI tools out there, so all my efforts went into UX, making sure the list is easy to navigate.
I also put together the first timeline of AI capabilities, which I think is very interesting. Finally, I launched the website on Product Hunt, where it quickly became #1 product of the week 🤯.
Normally, when you launch on Product Hunt you get a traffic spike and then it dies out over the next few days. That's not what happened in this case. A week later, the traffic was higher than during the peak day on Product Hunt. Then came Reddit, which drove 40k visitors.
It's been 5 days since I posted it on Reddit and now the traffic is almost as high as during the peak day of the Reddit launch. I've never experienced something like this so thought I might share it with the community to see what you guys think.
Some cool things that happened since then:
Btw, two days ago I launched the first AI-related forum @ chat.theresanaiforthat.com. If you're into AI, you might want to check it out.
I have a feeling this is going to be BIG.
Congratulations on the launch and early success! I poked around and already bookmarked the site! I can see it coming in handy pretty frequently. Do you plan on monetizing the platform in the short / long term, or is this more of just a community project?
Thanks! I definitely plan to monetize to cover the server bill + my time spent working on it. I actually just added Adsense earlier today just to see if it would be a viable monetization strategy. Also testing other things like accepting sponsors and maybe in the future native ads. The problem with native ads is that you waste a lot of time managing inventory and I really don't want to do that. Would rather pay someone 10-20% to take care of everything.
