Welcome to the stand up party!
Have you formally launched? Is the purpose of the videos to help existing customers are to draw in more?
Both! I've received a few requests around how to setup rent collection from current landlords and businesses shopping around for a property management platform. I started by writing out documentation and putting it on the landing site but it never felt full enough. For prospective clients it's nice to have something that I can point them to for an initial review of some portion of the system.
I don't know if I'll ever formally launch, I feel like I'm launching each time I talk to a prospect but I've never posted to producthunt and the like.
The first walk-through is complete (rent collection), next are customization and document storage.

Just noticed that your copyright in the site's footer still mentions 2018. You might want to consider to update it into 2019, it at least is an indicator that the development is ongoing and the project is active.
Thanks! Just updated it on my new index page. Hopefully I can get it to a release point soon (along with the blog and new docs) :)

Nice! I think you've done well with something we all struggle with - making a landing page that explains clearly what your app does and how it helps.
I understood what it's supposed to do, and could imagine it helping me (if I had customers and support requests haha).
Thanks @AndrewV! I hope you grow to having a million requests / day and we cannot support you :D

Do you have beta testers (or need them)?
From looking at your landing page, I wonder if I can connect accounts (and then have security-related thoughts) or if I put them in manually. I also want to see the app in action - how's it look, how does it process and group transactions, etc?
Hey Andrew!
Thanks for the interest in my product!
I have very little beta testers and I DO NEED THEM! So please, if you are interested, feel free to ask questions, raise suggestions and of course join - its a public beta and its free!
I currently do not handle automatic transactions. It is in the back of my head, but I want this product to be community driven - whatever the people prefer - Ill focus on it.
As for the functionality. Currently you can create transactions (as well as split transaction) in any base currency you select. You can also define yearly budget.
I have a huge plan for the app: Native mobile version, automatic bank syncing, multi currency support, investment tracking, all kinds of reports and more. So there is a lot of work yet to do.
Cool. If you want any specific feedback, feel free to e-mail me!
I signed up for the app and played around a bit. I've never used accounting software extensively, but seems like a nicer version of GnuCash (and probably other stuff like it). I use Mint a lot to keep track of overviews of my accounts. I like it for consolidating everything and importing data automatically. I hate that it doesn't keep good track of my wealth history (eg deleting an account deleted that info).
I'm not big on budgeting, but I do like seeing an overview of where my money is going.
Am I your target?
A couple things:
And a side note: You've likely seen them, but there are APIs for importing data from financial accounts. I briefly looked into them to try to hack my own custom finance info. They get expensive fast, but you could tell users to create their own account and provide an API key to import their data without costing you anything.
Good luck! Hope I can provide some more useful feedback :)
Andrew, YOU ARE A ROCKSTAR!
Thank you very much! I saw that you've signed up, Ill use your email to contact you (of course you will be able to unsubscribe at any time!
The feedback you've provided is of huge value to me! I appreciate it a lot!
I must be honest with you, before I've started MoneyPin, I tried everything: Excel, GnuCash, KWallet, YNAB, Mint, Quicken and essentially now using some desktop software that simply not enough for me. All of them have drawbacks such as location banning (I'm not US/Canada citizen) or limiting the use of currencies (I have my money in 4 different currencies). Thats the reason I've started MoneyPin, to overcome such obstacles.
Regarding your questions:
Regarding your side note: true, I have a list of close to 30 different API aggregators for banks around the world. They do get expensive very much and since the project is bootstrapped and I pay my own money for it, I postpone the automatic transaction creation. It's on my road map, but I want to focus on other features such as reports, multi currency support, investment tracking.
Once again, thank you very much for the reply! Its huge motivation boost for me!
That makes sense! I got some hints from you mentioning multiple currencies, but sounds like a lot of current solutions are US-centric.
As for the issue with adding a transaction type:
That behavior seems difficult to me. Maybe if transaction type isn't found, it should default to "Misc Transaction" or something?
And happy to help :)
Thanks Andrew!
I'll check that behaviour over the weekend!
