We received 18 new startup submissions to https://www.startupjohn.com/ on July. This number was 10 on June. Again all those numbers based on zero paid advertising, only rely on organic traffic.
Page views were 15% , audience was %6 more comparing to June.
Alexa site ranking improved +1.3 million.
I don't spend much time on the venture nowadays. It is good to receive traffic & submissions w/o spending any extra time.
Do you want to generate some traffic to your new venture? Add it to startupjohn.com
Nice job on July. I'll make sure to add my startup.
As to the business model, what's your differentiator from the existing websites that index startups?
Thanks,
Jonathan
Hey Jonathan,
Thanks for your question. More competitors ask for money to get listed or make you wait for weeks before approving (or sometimes rejecting) your submission. We approve content within 48 hours and it is totally free. You don't have to pay anything for your startup profile page to go live faster. I created startupjohn.com based on my personal pain.
I checked numbers today and we received 15 submissions on August so far. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Best,
John
Gotcha - do you think it is worth it from an SEO perspective to be listed on those different websites?
Hey Jonathan,
Thanks for asking. The more backlinks you receive, the higher your Domain Authority is. Of course, you should aim for having backlinks from relevant and high quality websites. StartupJohn , as the name suggests, is highly relevant for startups and provides backlinks to your startup. Our domain authority score is not super high yet but we are getting there :)
P.S: Today is 18th August and StartupJohn has received 19 submissions on August from different founders/indiehackers.
Do these sites mostly have NF links - I would think NF would have 0 effect on your DA.
Congrats, do you do any Seo / content besides submissions?
Hello, thanks. Do you mean if I do blogging or SEO optimizations? Blogging: I did some here: https://www.startupjohn.com/blog but i should admit they are not main driver of traffic. Regarding SEO, of course I did some optimizations there which helped a lot to drive Google (organic) traffic.
One other thing I believe important is, not waiting for weeks or months to your submission to go live. Usually within 48h, submission content goes live + indexable on Google.
