I've pivoted three times to get from my first subscription a year ago (Jan. 14th, 2022) to now, and haven't updated the landing page much, aside from changing the USP.
I think it's time for a refresh, but I can't see my own page with fresh eyes. Please roast my landing page!
Consistency and feel. The design doesn’t reflect your bold claim. Your USP sounds like you’ve built sophisticated AI-driven software (I imagine that should have cost you a lot), but your design tells a different story.
#07234Bfor better readability. All of the above create an amateurish design feel.
So the copy tells me “sophisticated software engineers”. But design says, “we didn’t have money to hire a designer.”
And it doesn’t build trust in the company or the product.
Calculator. I love the calculator idea. I did something similar for my own landing page. However, you could make it look way more interesting to capture visitors’ attention. Right now, it looks like a table or a spreadsheet. The hierarchy is flat. Think about which part is the most important. What do you want visitors to see first?
Probably this:
Each Year, Nuro Saves You $9,805.00
Here is the example of my calculator.
No product screenshots. For SaaS products, this became a standard. Users want and expect to see how your software looks and feels. Maybe it’s in a video, but 90% of visitors won’t watch a video, so you shouldn’t use a video as a substitute.
I would consider it moving down the page because the Unbounce study found that videos in SaaS pages even decrease conversions. I think that’s not because having a video is bad in itself, but because most visitors don’t watch a video, so it’s a wasted space that otherwise can be used to answer a question like “Do I want it?”
I like how Wave did it. Video is still high up the page but not in the hero, and even if I don’t watch a video, the landing page answers my every question.
Sign-up funnel. The get access page looks and feels like you’re selling an info product, not a SaaS. There is no free trial or even monthly subscription to try out. Even the language is the same as an info product.
The reason this is bad, first, is that you’re not selling an info product so this is simply not expected. Users would expect either a sign-up for a free trial or to see the tiers of subscription plans. So this creates confusion. And the rule is: if we confuse, we lose.
Secondly, the info products space is notorious for overpromising and underdelivering, so you definitely don’t want to plant these associations in the minds of your visitors.
Seems like you have a good product, so despite all of the above flaws, some visitors convert, and you’re probably great at sales. But imagine what you could do if your context (design) would work for you instead of sabotaging you.
Wow @jasonbaciulis thanks for this detailed reply!
OK you've convinced me to hire a designer for the website. There is simply too wide a gap between the current (out-of-the-box template) design and what we need to achieve.
I struggle with the "product screenshot" issue... our product UI itself is extremely simple... We work hard at trying to make it about just this one button that does it all for you.
So I'm torn about showing "the rest" of the dashboard (project list, upload screen, whatever) when the message I want to share is "just click this one thing".
And, yes, the signup funnel is legacy from... well the fact that prior to this software I ran an infoproduct business so I still have a lot of those habits/marketing tools. But I'm learning :-)
I'm grateful for your roast.
Sébastien
I'm glad it was helpful.
Yes, I noticed the blog post "…goodbye to $15MM in infoproduct sales to embrace this $100k SaaS…" so of course, it's natural to fallback to what you know best. That's why it's so helpful to hear an outside perspective.
And since you're considering investing in design, check out my offer.
Hi @jasonbaciulis ; I feel like your advice was very much on point and I would like to chat with you to see if I can work with you for our new landing page.
We are rebranding the company within the next 6 weeks, and launching a free trial, and for all of that it would make sense to go out with our best foot forward.
Aurélie will reach out to you on my behalf through your contact page :-)
The pitch in the over the fold area is very clear. I get the idea what the product does and the pitch is very strong. These are some bold words to back up, and I'm glad there is a video right there to show me your product can do what you claim.
Before going to the video, I must say that I'm not entirely loving the color scheme. The light green logo and the yellow on a blue background, and especially the blue text on the blue background don't seem very pleasant to me visually. They are not bad, but with some fine tuning, I think the colors could be better.
While I like the fact you have a video on your page to pitch your product, I'm now at around the one minute mark where you say how hard it is to keep people watching and how you need animations and transitions etc. Which is true, around this time, I'm running a bit low with my patience. I wanted to see the product already. This intro seems a bit too long.
In one of the processing screens, I find it a bit odd how the progress bar moves forward and backward. In typical UX design, the idea of a progress bar is to move forward unless there is a problem.
Instead of the intro that seemed a bit too long, I would have wanted to see a bit more about the product. For example, I don't personally think those text effects the app added to the video to be very pleasing to watch, so would I be able to easily change them within the app?
Towards the end of the landing page, I feel like you didn't answer my number one question: How much is this?
After clicking the "get access now" button I finally see the price. But I feel like the layout of the website gets rather cheap looking in this second page. There are just a lot issues relating to the layout and typography. And parts of the content is in French, which seems a bit odd, too.
I think I like the product and I like how you put yourself forward introducing the product, but I think the landing page and the second page especially could use quite a bit of polishing work.
@jv16 Wow thank you Jouni ! I'll start implementing your feedback right this week!
Howdy @Nuro
I have a good review coming your way that I think you will like
A couple of questions:
@Nuro
I loved reviewing your site and product. I'm absolutely blown away by the ease with which Nuro edited and exported your demo video. You sir, have a gem on your hands.

Wow, thank you! I'm going to look at this in detail tonight. I'm grateful for the effort you spent on this review. Thank you so much @calebsylvest
Hi!
I mostly sell through Facebook Lives and webinars to other experts' audiences, as well as Free Challenges to my audience
A very low percentage of paying customers come organically through the website. Most see me live (in person or virtually) and go straight to an order form
I don't know :-)
There is no free trial (we tried it - with mandatory CC - and it didn't convert from visit to trial ; the conversion from visit to purchase is better for some reason). We are planning to implement a limited free tier with no CC.
Thanks!
Overall the product info is delivered clearly. Two things I'd like to mention: First, there are too many words on your landing page, which makes it a little bit hard to grasp the very essentials of your product. Second, the design looks a little bit amateur, maybe it's better to use fewer colors, and pay more attention to design details.
Hi @IndieHacker603 I was surprised when you said "too many words", and then I looked at the page with a fresh eye and realized it's mostly walls-of-text paragraphs so, I think you're 100% right and I'll rework this. Thank you :-)
Hey, I can help. Firstly your website is lacking a sense of identity. Maybe focus on the branding of your company, because right now its all over the place. Secondly the assets and images you've used are all different types and styles and this is key to add recognisablity to your company. You also need to rework the form section because there's just too much going on there. Its all essentially branding and UX changes.
My new design agency is building its portfolio and we'd love to be part of this. Mail me at [email protected]
