.io vs .com

I have two domains for a product I'm working on.

Microbes.io
MicrobesDiet.com

Obviously, the first domain is the better domain, but with the .io is it worth using? The product is aimed at a non-technical group of people so I'm leaning toward using the .com.

Any thoughts?

.com all the way! Non-technical people can't be relied upon to type nonstandard TLDs, so they'll resort to googling which won't turn your site up (unless you're doing really well). MicrobesDiet.com is easy enough to type accurately.

Also, assuming "Diet" is part of the product, it might even help a teensy bit with SEO down the line.

    .Com or bust. :)

Developers get there are many TLD's, but to the outside world, everything is .com.
