$1k MRR in first month!

I just want to share our success here. We launched HireClub Coaching subscriptions June 1, 2018 and are already at $1k in MRR. One user even upgraded their plan already. I'm just super excited that people love what we are doing and we can make money at it.

We primarily did this by offering a free 15 minute coaching session that makes users feel welcome and walks through the offering. We did about 30 free sessions which lead to 9 subscribers. So not a bad conversion rate!

One thing I've learned is the best thing you can do is talk to your customers directly. I talk to every single one before and after they purchase. We're updating our landing page based on the learnings we get from talking to customers.

I try to listen to what messages resound with the customers. What is the questions they have that make it very clear if they can benefit from this?

So much to do, but very happy with our early start!

Great news Ketan. Congrats and keep up the good work!

Thank you! Cranking out code every day!

I'm very curious to hear what you predict your user churn to be like. I imagine the very nature of your service doesn't especially lend itself well to a MRR model due to the fact that if you're successful - you lose the client?

Have you thought of a way to keep people interested after they're hired somewhere new?

    1. 1

Not necessarily. Coaching not just about finding a job but growing your career. So even if you find a job, you want a coach to help you grow further. We've also seen many folks who get jobs through HireClub then post jobs in HireClub continuing the cycle. I really believe coaching is a powerful way to create community and long term growth for your career so while our initial pull is finding your next job, a lot of the interest is in maintaining that growth long term.

Hy @kidbombay nice job done at HireClub. Are you growing outside of the United States since your first launch ?

    1. 1

We've done some coaching outside the US, UK, Italy, Turkey, Australia. It's been mainly focused on people who want to move to the US and get a job. We've also done events in London and Dubai. I would love to expand more internationally!

Oh cool. You might want to try Nigeria. IMO Nigerians will pay for Coaching regarding going to the USA.

In case you are considering Nigeria.

        1. Partner with a Local Travel agency in Nigeria and
        2. Offer discounts through the agency such that the agency made it an important part of the trip to USA to go through coaching,
        3. While the agency suggest you as the best club for it.

There might be something there for HireClub.

Nice website design and people photos, looks very professional!

Thanks! I did the design myself and we actually have a headshot service for clients! https://hireclub.com/headshots

Congrats for this milestone, one of the greatest.

What's your profit rate out of this? I assume you need to pay your coaches for the services they offer.

Services with a human component tend to grow very quickly if they provide value. Do you have plans to support the eventual growth?

    1. 1

Right now we take 30% but I'm exploring raising it. I want to give our coaches their fair share but we've also spent the time and money to build a great platform. I like Apple's 30% model because it's just well known.

We are definitely providing value I think but I think we can handle at least 10x more subscribers right now without changing much. But that would be a good problem to have. What do you envision as growth problems?

    congrats!!
What were your marketing strategies for this initial month?

    1. 1

The main thing was we added a free 10 minute coaching intro. So many people are new to coaching that it's easier to listen to what they need and explain how we can help over the phone. Really hearing people's problems helps you understand how to get them what they want. It costs time but not much else to do these calls.

Outside of that we have a strong facebook community that I've been building for years with 25k members now https://fb.com/groups/hireclub

Congratulations! You have achieved more than most!
It is nice to see that you keep an eye on your customers and use their feedback to build up your offer.

  8. 2

    Congrats @kidbombay keep it up!
Excited to hear what retention strategies you guys come up with!

Congrats @kidbombay Love the landing page. Update us when you get to your next milestone. I'm hoping to launch my SaaS app soon too and could always use some lessons learned from others here.

    1. 1

Thank you for the kind words! I struggle with wanting to make it better all the time when I see other landing pages lol!

Yes, happy to chat more about lessons learned. Launch early and launch often!

This is a great idea. I was looking for something similar when I was interviewing. Now I am looking for a life coach instead of a career coach. Any plans of introducing life-coaching as well?

    1. 1

Thank you, we haven't explored life coaching right now but many of our coaches are certified for both. You could try it out and see what you think!

    Hi Ketan,

Would it fair to say that some coaches on your site use mentoring more i.e. share experience and offer advice, while others use more indirective coaching approach (I see there coaches certified by CTI and ICF)?

    1. 1

Not exactly. All our coaches have experience in coaching in some official manner. Whether through certification or being in HR/Hiring roles where they are very aware of the market and needs. While some coaching is not prescriptive (more traditional CTI/ICF), HireClub has a 50/50 approach that combines coaching plus consulting.

      1. 1

It's interesting. Are you looking for coaches? I saw an application form but still want to check with you.

  12. 1

This is most likely fraud. How do you know that your coaches or mentors are actually good?

    1. 1

That's a pretty big and rude assumption to make?

      1. We have a 3 part process to validate and review coaches. I've personally interviewed all of them. 2. Most of our coaches are also certified by a coaching institute like CTI which requires 500 hours of coaching. 3. On top of that each coaching session can be reviewed by users and we've done over 200 sessions with 95% 5 star reviews. 4. I understand this is the internet but part of our ethics and community is about kindness and trust. Calling out something as fraud with little evidence is quite rude.

We started with one off coaching bookings in August 2017. But we didn't have a way to generate recurring revenue from customers who wanted coaching.
