20 free dev tools, 2 weeks in — what I've learned about building for developers

Started QuickDev two weeks ago with 5 tools. Now at 20. Here's what surprised me: - Mock Data Generator got the most search impressions on Google, despite being one of the newest additions. Didn't expect that — thought JSON formatter would dominate. - Putting a working JSON formatter directly on the homepage (instead of just a link) boosted session time from 14 seconds to 40+. Developers are lazy — if they have to click through to use something, a lot won't. - The EXIF metadata viewer got the first real community feedback. Someone from a competing tool reached out and gave genuinely useful technical advice. - SEO is painfully slow for a new domain. Getting impressions (not clicks, just impressions) and celebrating that. Current stack: pure HTML/CSS/JS on GitHub Pages. $0 server costs. Built entirely with Claude Code as a non-programmer — it's been an interesting experiment in how far AI-assisted development can go.
