Plan a marketing budget. I need around 5000 sign-ups a month to get 50 new paid users a month (1% conversion).

I'm thinking of cheap (free) ways of promotion such as adding share buttons in the app. Any ideas?

Not the question you asked, but gets after the ultimate goal. Have you thought about increasing your conversion rate?

I'm an avid fan of habit trackers. Presently testing Streaks and Productive for keeping my New Decade resolutions. I'll admit I checked out your landing page and found it lacking. (Especially when compared to the leaders in this category.) I couldn't discern any differentiators and why your product was better than the competitors.

(Grinning) If you had more substance to your landing page, you'll at least get another download!

(And congrats on another paid user!)

Yea I haven't touched it in a while. Any advice?

I've been thinking more about retention, so it would probably be wise to improve conversion too.

        1. 1

          There are 3 parameters:
          Motivation(how much a prospect want to convert/buy/signin)

          Friction(how easy is it to convert/if a prospect can't find the sign-in/buy page...well no conversion )

Trigger(how many/how much you push him to convert)

Start by improving friction, then motivation(the copy and if you funnel is not that good means you need tu nurture your customer more before putting the trigger)

This is why I love this community. I'll give this some thought in the coming week.

              Really true also for me👍

(Smiling) Copy. Check out the landing pages of Streaks and Productive. I think their landing pages are damn near perfect.

Hi Janice, can you link me to these two lp's?

          2. 1

hahha oh yea. That is where I'll start.

    Validate an idea. Maybe two.

    Yesterday

Idea #2: Finish marketing page. [Close. Very close. Should be done in 30 minutes.] biomo.io

    Today

Idea #2: Complete round 2 of interviews for Venture Out!

    1. 2

Hey Janice, would you tell me how do you validate an idea.I don't think that just directly asking some people(my target) would be the best idea at the beginning.
So do you have any other method?

If 20 years ago proposed to someone to post his personal information on internet he wouldn't have responded really well, but hey now there is Facebook, and if Mark validated the idea by asking people Facebook wouldn't be here today.

      1. 1

Agreed. If Mark asked if he could build an app to post personal information online, he wouldn't have gotten very far. But if he asked college students how they stayed in the loop and what were the shortcomings of that "how", an online directory of fellow students would look much more appetizing.

Have you read the book The Mom Test? If not, I highly recommend! It'll help you place validation in the framework of exploring the problem, rather than seeking approval for a solution.

Figure out how the Randomization algorithm is written in C++ and Java. I'll do this with my brother, because we realized, we actually don't know how that function is written.
