2021 productized MRR growth challenges and possible solutions
I've decided this year I am getting out of the one-off web design project builds, tired of the feast and famine. I've been designing WordPress sites for 11 years and its been a roller-coaster. I have 3 productized ideas i will grow in 2021 staggered in this order below.
- Quickly grow a monthly WordPress care service.
Current MRR: $765/mo
Client #1 - $75/mo #2 - $90/mo #3 - $600/mo
I'm working on creating a productized WordPress Upkeep full service for well established lean businesses who would rather save time focusing on business than tinkering with WP. I help maintain wordpress sites, update software and improve conversions along with monthly reporting.
Client 3 is really where everything clicked and my service has been great so far, $7k a year from that one client so far
Initial Goal: Setup 25 clients by end of month January as a foundation and keep scaling
Packages will range between $300, $400 and $600
Problem:
The problem I'm trying to solve is what is the best approach for acquiring these businesses in a way I can systematize without spending money on ads to begin with and best niches. I've also thought of finding a way to do a partnership with a business association. Any ideas would be helpful.
- Music licensing for creators or video game developers
Current MRR: $0.
Sold 3 exclusive tracks for $2200
I produce quality music and instrumental tracks on the side and I have built up a library of 300 tracks over time. I want to monetize this either as subscription or license parts or the whole thing exclusively for a big chunk. I prefer not selling to artists, its herding cats
Goal: Build a monthly subscription music website for youtube creators and other content creators
OR build a portfolio/catalog site to license music to game developers or record label. Example 3-5 year license deal.
Problem:
Trying to figure best approach without wasting loads of time if anyone has done similar.
- I have a 3rd idea, involves selling lists of a niche for B2B businesses or agencies on a monthly subscription. Haven't properly fleshed out this idea yet.
