2022: Big Goals
I've been a long time Indie Hacker lurker, but I want to get more involved in the community. I love everything people put out and read posts daily.
I've decided 2022 is my year I'm going to build a business, and I'm setting an audacious goal. In 2022, my goal to start a SaaS business and sell it for 7 figures.
I realize it sounds pretty ridiculous to set a goal for so much money in such a short time, but I think it's doable. I figure if it is pure-SaaS I need to get ~$10K-20K MRR and have the product in a market with plenty of acquisition targets. We'll see how it goes, everything is currently in idea stage and all my goals / ideas are definitely in flux.
I'll be building in public and posting regular (hopefully daily, definitely weekly) updates here.
I believe one year of insanely hard work and focus can change your life, and that's what I'm going for here. Wish me luck.
As far as I can see, these targets cannot be reached.
But if you work hard as you said you will earn people's respect and the support of the community.
For example, I'm following Damon Chen from the beginning. He built a few projects with almost zero returns. But he didn't give up. Then built testimonial.to. As far as I know, he earned more than $100,000 in 1 year.
If you build something that generates 100K in a year and sell it with 10x you can reach your target. Not easy but possible.
Even if you do not reach this goal, I think you will gain great experiences and friends. And I think it's worth it.

Thanks! It is definitely a stretch goal and seems unrealistic, but not impossible. I think it'll be a fun thing to shoot for and help me keep motivated.
And if I don't reach it, I'm sure I'll learn a lot as I build as you say so really it's a zero-loss scenario. I'm excited.

I'm currently an engineer for a software company for loan officers, and there are a ton of tools we get requests for from clients. So I'm thinking of taking some of those ideas, repositioning them, and selling them to real estate agents instead (so I'm not competing directly with my job).
Starting with a "should I rent or should I buy" calculator, which has been pretty fun to build. Hopefully getting a beta out in the next week or so.
