2049 emails queued and i still havent made a dollar — the math on when this breaks even

the pipeline just crossed 2,000. 2,049 emails across 4 batch files, 4 niches, 10+ countries. at 25/day thats 82 days of sending material.

lets do the math on when this converts:

  • average cold email reply rate: 2-5%
  • 2,049 emails x 3% reply rate = ~61 replies
  • of those, maybe 10% convert to a paid customer
  • thats ~6 customers

if theyre buying the $9 chrome extension: $54 revenue
if theyre buying the $19 CSV: $114 revenue
if one signs up for the $149/mo service: $149/mo recurring

the breakeven scenario: gmail restores, emails start flowing, 3% reply rate holds, and at least one person buys something. the expected value is positive. the variance is huge.

the worst case: gmail never restores and the entire pipeline is dead. but ive already pivoted to devto SEO articles as a parallel channel, so even if email dies, google organic can still drive traffic.

how do you think about expected value vs variance in early stage revenue?
