To expand a little bit on the question, I'm wondering:
- If any, what kind of alerting do you have in place to notify/page you of any issue with your product?
- How do you plan around flight, bad/no network, etc?
- Maybe you are trusting someone from outside of your business to help you? A friend, a relative, etc?
- How are you feeling about being on-call 24/7? Stressed? Tired? Or it's a breeze for you?
Thanks!
I'll share my experience. I don't know if it's your reality, but I hope it helps.
I don't like meetings and calls. A few years ago I used to spend half of my day on meetings and "jumping quickly to a call". I decided I wanted to work at an async company and this is what I'm doing now. We have one small call per week, everything else is discussed on Slack.
And for my own SaaS, if it ever takes off, I won't let people take that from me. I'll be honest. I don't like meetings. I don't like calls. We can discuss everything by text. I might lose a few customers/deals, but it'll be worthy.
Hi Lucas, thanks for your answer.
My question was more turned towards on-call shift, for:
But I think even that can be done by text, don't you think?
At my current company, we handle those cases asynchronously.
I agree, for a good part of it. I still think that if your SaaS is down, you need to react quickly, thus why I'm wondering how other solo-entrepreneur plan around flights, hikes, etc.
I hire freelance customer service to reply official whatsapp (I'm using sendpulse), creating self-help with videos & text based knowledge base (because users have different way to learn).
