curiosity.
I am curious about the most memorable impact it had on your life?
Focusing on helping others. Turns out that is great for community building, and people will remember you positively forever when you do good things for them.
100% agreed. Did it ever happened to you where you were in a pickle and someone came to your rescue out of nowhere?
If we're talking about "skills" rather than habits or personality traits, then I'd say learning to code for sure. Rather than opening doors for me, I'd say it's allowed me to build and do the things I love without having to walk through anyone else's door. The entire trajectory of my life would be different if I hadn't picked up that skill. I don't know if I would've been a good enough "hustler" to find a way to follow my passions otherwise.
I believe that's the same for most of the founders who can code.
Do you have any person on top of your mind where you wish; if I would've been a hustler, I would be like him?
I'd be like @Christy, who got her app built and launched without knowing how to code. Check out the podcast episode I recorded with her.
This one is borderline personality trait / skill....
If you characterize it as a skill to develop, I'd say it's the ability to see things as other people see them. As my mom used to say "putting yourself in other people's shoes".
If I was to slide to personality traits I'd say "empathy". I think this trait has helped me in so many ways as a founder who has to do the many hats thing.
Great for marketing, user experience, HR/recruiting, managing people...
If you go even deeper I'd say it helps you be a chameleon as you have to take on these different roles and adapt quickly. Guess I have to be a copywriter today and so on...
Agreed, empathy is incredibly important for marketing, writing, and many other things.
That's quite a rare skill these days. Applicable to all personal interactive roles.
Comfort with and appreciating ambiguity in my professional and creative life. The more question marks a project has & the less obvious the go-forward strategy is has a direct correlation with where I've had the most opportunities to learn, hack, grow, etc.
Thinking long term.
