Hello IH! Startup Journey is a site where startups can document their progress, mistakes and successes.
We already got 28 startups on our page and now want to build an active userbase that writes comments, likes articles and interacts with the writers.
Please tell us your thoughts and ideas on the following points:
I believe this has a lot of potential, but to me there are some serious problems that put me off right away.
First, take for instance this post by Rich from Failory which I like: https://startup-journey.com/article/failory-april-10407-sessions-4238-email-subscribers-and-120-48
But then there's this: https://startup-journey.com/article/about-centriq-37
Which, to be frank, reads like spam.
Two totally different kinds of posts--one which makes me like your website, and the other which makes me wonder if it's worth digging through the spam.
On top of it all, there's a third kind of post which reads like a daily personal journal, which isn't necessarily bad but I want to distinguish those posts from the Rich-style post at a glance without spending clicks.
Thanks for this answer Wyatt! That really helps me and I totally agree with you.
We also recognized that some people are just trying to use the platform to promote their product instead of bringing real value.
To prevent spam we will from now on confirm manually whether a startup is suitable. We will also set up rules and introduce a Spam Report button that will make it easier for us to detect spam.
We also noticed the issue with the articles and the daily updates. We are not quite sure how we will solve this yet, but I think a solution that separates these types would be the best.
Hey Niklas. I literally just posted on here telling people they should come over and blog on Startup Journey.
I'm finding it truly liberating and enjoyable to write about what I'm doing.
I've never felt very confident before, and never thought I would be interesting enough...but actually, once I start writing it seems to flow out nicely.
As for your questions:
I guess Hacker News, here, searching Twitter for hashtags are good places to find people? wip.chat maybe?
Your default page is the Explore page, but what if the default was the Startups page? Would that be better for visitors? Or maybe you need a page which shows an overview of both?
Cheers,
Ben
Hey Ben, I'm so glad you're supporting us! I always find it interesting to read what you did that day, so it makes me all the more happy that it helps you.
Looks good. Just signuped up. I will write about quickcode.co soon.
P.s. - choosing username on signup reminds me Indiehacker :P
